Flying Business Class for under $100!
Recently we had a quick getaway to Melbourne and were able to snap up Business Class tickets for under $100 each way!
Alright so it sounds a bit too good to be true but stick with me and I will show you how we did it!
Using Octopus Group is quick and easy and rewards are paid as either e-gift card or deposited into your bank. We prefer e-gift card - why? Octopus e-gifts cards are redeemable at Airbnb, Uber, Webjet and many more (but we want to focus on these).
So when booking our flights to Melbourne, we booked using Webjet e-gift cards. 2 flights Sydney to Melbourne for $238.00 return with Virgin Australia PAID IN FULL by using our phones.

Now you might be thinking "that's pretty nice, but where is the luxury aspect". I mean free flights are good and all, but we were talking upgrades!
We booked with Virgin Australia who have a program called UpgradeMe.
7 days before our flight we received an email asking us to bid for an upgrade. So I thought why not, the flights were free lets put in a bid and maybe we will get to sit up the pointy end of the plane.
My bid was minimal, it's only an hour flight and they hadn't cost us a cent. I didn't want to break the budget just to get the nicer seats with more legroom, sparkling wine on arrival, inflight meal, access to the business lounge with complimentary bar and buffet (sounds pretty nice doesn't it) but I thought we might as well try. If our bid isn't accepted, we aren't charged anything extra.
My bid was $40 per seat each way.
The day before our flights, I thought we had missed out until an email came through saying we were successful.
Return business class for $80 per person!
Now this isn't guaranteed to work every time. We had booked mid week/mid morning flights which means the flights were not fully booked and the seats were available to be filled. Booking during the off peak times of the week will help your chances of being selected to be upgraded.
